Darwin's Paper: Where The Dream Never Dies

I am going to dive into an extreme niche community: the community of electronic music fans that follow and attempt to recreate the music of Berlin School electronic music of the early- to mid-70's (as exemplified by Tangerine Dream's Phaedra album from 1974). This community, maintained via email lists and Yahoo groups, features individuals that have dissected the existing recordings and are active in creating new music to continue the tradition of this otherwise-dead musical genre. I will discuss issues of community creation, community rules, originality and authenticity of new works and areas of specific community interest. In addition to using available published material, I will be gathering new information from the archives of the mailing lists and conducting interviews with leaders of the community.

While I know some of the people in this community, I am not a participant. Thus, some of the above will probably be modified as I find out more about their particulars.
